Brasserie d'Achouffe is a Belgian craft brewery located in the small village of Achouffe, in the Ardennes region of Wallonia. Founded in 1982 by Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraert as a home brewing project, it grew into one of Belgium's most recognisable independent breweries before being acquired by Duvel Moortgat, the Belgian brewing group that also owns Brouwerij De Koninck, Brouwerij Liefmans, and Brewery Ommegang in the United States. Achouffe is best known for its bottle-refermented Belgian ales, brewed with a distinctive character rooted in the Ardennes countryside. The brewery's portfolio includes a range of ales, among them the widely celebrated La Chouffe, a golden strong ale brewed with spices and refermented in the bottle. The range also includes McChouffe, a dark Belgian ale that appears in international beer collections, as well as seasonal and limited releases. Achouffe's beers are known for their full-bodied malt character, use of aromatic hops, and Belgian yeast-driven complexity. The brewery has become a destination in itself, attracting visitors to the Ardennes who come to experience the taproom and brewery surroundings. The iconic gnome mascot featured on every label has made Achouffe instantly recognisable among Belgian beer lovers and export markets worldwide.
