Weldebräu, officially known as Welde Weldebräu GmbH & Co. KG, is a family-run private brewery located in Plankstadt, near Heidelberg in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Founded in 1752, the brewery has been passed down through generations and is currently operated by the ninth generation of the founding family, making it one of the older continuously operating family breweries in the German brewing landscape. With over 270 years of brewing tradition, Weldebräu combines centuries-old craft with modern brewing technology. The brewery's portfolio reflects both its deep roots in German brewing tradition and its willingness to embrace contemporary styles. Among its offerings is the Kurpfalzbräu Ur-Weizen, a traditional wheat beer brewed under the Kurpfalzbräu label, which speaks to the regional heritage of the Kurpfalz area. Weldebräu has also ventured into modern styles, with references to German-interpreted IPAs appearing under the Welde brand, demonstrating a range that spans classic Bavarian styles to more innovative craft directions. Weldebräu's quality has been recognised on the international stage. At the 2024 World Beer Cup, the brewery earned a Bronze medal for its Kurpfalzbräu Ur-Weizen in the wheat beer category, competing against breweries from around the world. The brewery was also featured in the Finest Beer Selection 2023 by Meininger Verlag, further cementing its reputation as a respected producer of quality German beer.
