Hedonis Ambachtsbier is a small Belgian craft brewery founded in 2015 by Janos de Baets and Leopold De Ketelaere. The two young brewers had a background in professional brewing before launching their own venture, initially operating as a gypsy brewery — crafting their beers at other brewing facilities rather than from a fixed location. Over time, the brewery established itself in Asper, in the East Flanders region of Belgium, building a reputation for artisanal, small-batch brewing with genuine passion and craftsmanship at its core. Hedonis focuses on a compact but carefully curated portfolio of craft beers, staying true to the ambachtelijk — or artisanal — brewing philosophy that defines the brand. Their range includes distinctive styles such as an imperial stout brewed with oat flakes, coffee beans, and vanilla, reflecting a bold, flavour-forward approach to recipe development. The brewery also produces beers like La Rigodon, a tribute to the carnival heritage of the Dunkirk region, and Ouwen Duiker, one of their best-known offerings. Collaborations with other breweries, such as Siphon Brewing, further highlight their creative ambitions within the Belgian craft beer scene. In 2025, Hedonis celebrated its tenth anniversary with the release of the Hedonis Grand Cru, brewed at Brouwerij De Ranke in Dottignies. The brewery is known for commissioning original artwork for its labels, including hand-signed designs, underlining its commitment to both brewing quality and artistic identity.
