Schneider Weisse

Schneider Weisse is one of Bavaria's most storied wheat beer breweries, with roots stretching back to 1872 when Georg Schneider I founded the brewery and began championing the art of Weissbier at a time when the style was far from fashionable. The story actually begins even earlier: Georg Schneider I had been brewmaster at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich since 1855, where he developed a deep passion for top-fermented wheat beer brewing. Six generations of the Schneider family have since carried that legacy forward, making the brewery in Kelheim, Bavaria, a living monument to German brewing tradition. Schneider Weisse is widely regarded as the oldest private wheat beer brewery in Bavaria and produces around 270,000 hectolitres annually, making it the seventh-most popular German wheat beer brand. The brewery specialises exclusively in top-fermented Weissbier styles, with a fully automated production plant staffed by approximately 100 employees. Their portfolio ranges from classic Hefeweizen to stronger, more complex styles such as Doppelweizenbock, all brewed according to time-honoured Bavarian methods. Among the brewery's most celebrated beers is the TAP 7 Mein Original, a flagship Weissbier known for its rich malt character and traditional yeast-driven complexity. The brewery also operates a taproom in Munich, where visitors can enjoy their renowned Doppelweizenbock on draught. With decades of consistent quality and a family heritage spanning six generations, Schneider Weisse remains a benchmark for authentic Bavarian wheat beer.
