Brouwerij Rodenbach was founded in 1821 in Roeselare, in the West Flanders region of Belgium, by the Rodenbach family — a group of enterprising siblings including Alexander, Ferdinand Gregoor, Pedro, and Amalia Rodenbach. With over two centuries of brewing history, Rodenbach has grown into one of the most celebrated breweries in the world, widely regarded as the leading brewer of oak-aged mixed-fermentation ale. Rodenbach is synonymous with Flemish Red Ale, a style defined by the blending of young beer with beer that has been matured in large oak vessels. In 1878, Eugene Rodenbach played a pivotal role in perfecting this aging technique, which remains central to the brewery's identity. The portfolio includes Rodenbach Classic, the flagship beer and a blend of aged and young ale, as well as Rodenbach Grand Cru, which consists of 67% aged beer and 33% young beer, offering a deeper, more complex sour profile. Rodenbach is arguably the most awarded brewery globally and continues to push boundaries through collaboration. In a landmark first for the brewery, Rodenbach partnered with American craft brewery Dogfish Head to release Vibrant P'Ocean, a blended ale at 4.7% ABV. Today, Rodenbach is part of the Royal Swinkels Family Brewers portfolio and remains based at its historic site on Spanjestraat in Roeselare.
