Brasserie Sainte Cru is an independent craft brewery rooted in the Alsace region of France. The brewery's story began in 2007 with a first brew in Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine, driven by the ambition to produce beers with a strong personality. In 2012, the brewery was officially founded, and just a year later, in 2013, it moved to new premises in Colmar — the Alsatian city where it continues to brew today. Co-founder Vivien Remond has been vocal about the cultural shift in France's drinking landscape, noting that craft beer is carving out serious space in a country long dominated by wine. Sainte Cru has built a reputation for a bold and eclectic portfolio that spans a wide range of styles. The brewery leans heavily into hop-forward beers, including American IPAs, Imperial IPAs, and Brut IPAs, alongside Belgian-inspired styles such as Tripels and more experimental releases. Their credo — '1/3 illumination, 1/3 ...' — hints at the freewheeling, creative spirit behind their brewing philosophy. Beers like Laisse Béton (American IPA), Mouton Electrique (Imperial IPA), and Orange Mécanique (Belgian Tripel) reflect both their range and their flair for cinema- and culture-inspired naming. Sainte Cru is also known for its collaborative spirit, regularly partnering with other breweries to blend ideas and cultures. The brewery has a bar on-site in Colmar, making it a convivial destination for beer lovers visiting the region. Their beers have reached international audiences through retailers and beer subscription services across Europe.
