Borg Brugghus is an Icelandic brewery based in Reykjavík, known for pushing the boundaries of craft brewing in a country with a relatively young beer culture. Iceland only lifted its ban on beer in 1989, making its brewing scene remarkably recent. Borg Brugghus emerged as one of the country's more prominent brewing operations, sitting somewhere between a microbrewery and a larger commercial producer, while maintaining a strong creative identity driven by its brewmasters. The brewery is known for a wide and inventive portfolio that draws inspiration from Iceland's unique natural landscape. Among their most distinctive offerings is an arctic thyme beer, showcasing locally foraged botanicals as a flavouring ingredient. They also produce barrel-aged beers, including examples reaching up to 12.2% ABV, as well as stouts — including a porter/stout known as Hurðaskellir (Doorslammer).
