Magic Rock Brewing was a craft brewery founded in 2011 by Richard Burhouse and head brewer Stuart Ross in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. The brewery was born out of a lifelong passion for beer, inspired by local British brewing traditions and the vibrant American craft beer scene. It started in an old outbuilding connected to the Burhouse family business, giving it an authentic, independent character from the very beginning. Magic Rock quickly earned a strong reputation in the UK craft beer world, building a portfolio that reflected the energy and innovation of modern brewing. Drawing on influences from both sides of the Atlantic, the brewery explored a wide range of styles, from bold hop-forward ales to more experimental and creative brews. Their beers became known for quality, character, and a distinctly modern British craft sensibility. In 2019, Magic Rock was acquired by the Australia-headquartered drinks company Lion, which sought to establish itself as a key player in the UK craft beer market. The brewery later changed hands again when the Magic Rock beer brand was acquired by Keystone Brewing, the owner of Black Sheep Brewery, while the original Huddersfield brewing facility was closed. Despite its turbulent ownership history, Magic Rock remains a well-regarded name in British craft brewing, celebrated for its role in shaping the UK craft beer scene.
