Dommelsche Bierbrouwerij, located in the village of Dommelen in North Brabant, the Netherlands, has been brewing beer along the banks of the river Dommel since 1744, making it the oldest operating brewery in the Netherlands. The brewery was founded by Jan Snieders, a local farmer who also ran a brewing operation on the side. Over the centuries, the brewery passed through several owners, and since 1968 it has been part of the international brewing group that is today known as AB InBev. The brewery is best known for producing Dommelsch, a mainstream Dutch lager that has become a familiar name in the Dutch beer market. As part of the AB InBev portfolio, the brewery focuses on accessible, approachable lager-style beers brewed to consistent quality standards. The Dommelsche Bierbrouwerij also serves as a production site for other brands within the AB InBev family, including Hertog Jan beers. With a brewing history spanning nearly three centuries, Dommelsche Bierbrouwerij holds a unique place in Dutch brewing heritage. Its location along the Dommel river in North Brabant, a region with a long tradition in Dutch brewing culture, adds to its historical significance as a living monument to the craft of brewing in the Netherlands.
