Struise Brouwers in Oostvleteren crafts this dark quadrupel with careful barrel aging. Matured on bourbon casks, the beer gains roasted depth, oak character and warming alcohol heat layered over a rich, malty base. Roasted malt, toffee and dried fruit notes emerge on the nose. The palate is full-bodied and layered, with assertive bitterness balanced by sweet caramel tones and subtle oak influence from the barrel. The finish is dry and lingering, with the warming presence of 10.5% ABV.
