Straffe Hendrik is an ambitious tripel from Bruges, brewed by Brouwerij De Halve Maan since 1981. This beer rewards patience and attention: its complex character has been refined across generations. Built on Pilsner malt and dextrose, it is extensively hopped with Czech Saaz and Slovenian Styrian Goldings. Bottle refermentation creates a living ale with rich fruit notes of banana, orange and apricot. The aromatic hops bring spice and floral character, underpinned by a distinctive bitterness. The finish is dry and clean, with a lingering aftertaste that invites contemplation.
