Isle of Skye Brewing
United Kingdom · Founded in 1995
Isle of Skye Brewing Company is a Scottish craft brewery founded in 1995 on the Isle of Skye, born out of a shared passion for quality beer. The brewery was established by former Portree High School teachers Angus MacRuary and Stephen Tinney, who had long recognised a lack of good beer in the region. Rooted in the rugged landscapes and centuries-old traditions of Scottish brewing, the brewery draws its identity directly from the island it calls home — from rain-soaked soil to the glass in your hand. The brewery's portfolio is inspired by the wild, unforgiving terrain of Skye, producing a range of ales that reflect both local character and Scottish brewing heritage. Their beers, including offerings such as Isle of Skye Gold, are brewed with a strong sense of provenance — a value the brewery openly champions as central to its craft. The range spans traditional Scottish ales and craft-forward styles, each tied to the island's distinct identity. In 2019, Isle of Skye Brewing Company expanded significantly by acquiring rival craft brewer Black Wolf Brewery for an undisclosed sum, marking a bold step onto the Scottish mainland. The brewery has continued to grow its presence both domestically and internationally, and remains a proud standard-bearer of Scottish and British craft brewing.
