Brouwerij Kleiburg is a brewery based in Amsterdam-Zuidoost (the Bijlmer district), located at Hullenbergweg 6 in Amsterdam. The brewery is closely connected to the Kleiklooster, a chapel established within the same building complex. The project was founded by Johannes van den Akker, who created both the Kleiklooster and Brouwerij Kleiburg as intertwined community spaces, combining a place of reflection with a brewery, restaurant, and communal gathering point in the heart of a neighbourhood otherwise dominated by major corporate offices such as ABN AMRO, ING, and IKEA. Brouwerij Kleiburg specialises in monastery-inspired beers, drawing on the rich tradition of kloosterbrouwen — brewing in the style of monastic breweries. The brewery's portfolio reflects this heritage, with sturdy, characterful beers brewed with care and rooted in community. Their range has attracted attention from fellow brewers and beer enthusiasts alike, as evidenced by a notable collaboration with La Trappe Trappist, one of the Netherlands' most celebrated Trappist breweries, resulting in a limited edition beer called Tripel Traditionair. Brewery Kleiburg has been highlighted in Amsterdam's craft beer scene as one of the city's distinctive producers, praised for its unconventional location and its role as a community hub in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The combination of a taproom, restaurant, and chapel makes Brouwerij Kleiburg a truly unique brewing destination in the Netherlands.
