Harviestoun

Harviestoun Brewery was founded in 1985 by Ken Brooker, a former Ford engineer from Dagenham, who established the brewery in a 200-year-old stone byre near Dollar, in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. The brewery later relocated to the Hillfoots Business Village on the Alva Industrial Estate in Alva, Clackmannanshire, where it commenced brewing in 2003. In 2006, Harviestoun was acquired by the Caledonian Brewery, integrating its operations into a broader Scottish brewing portfolio while continuing to develop its own distinct identity. Harviestoun has built a reputation for a diverse range of beers, with its flagship craft lager Schiehallion now accounting for around two-thirds of total production. Schiehallion is widely recognised as a benchmark for Scottish craft lager, and its success has helped position Harviestoun as one of Scotland's most prominent craft breweries. Alongside lager, the brewery produces a broader range of ales and specialty beers that reflect the craft traditions of the Scottish Hillfoots region. One of Harviestoun's most celebrated beers is Ola Dubh, a barrel-aged stout whose name derives from the Scottish Gaelic term for "black oil." The beer has earned strong recognition among craft beer enthusiasts for its rich, complex character. Harviestoun's beers are distributed internationally and can be found in specialist craft beer outlets across Europe and beyond.
