Heaven Cent is the debut creation of Lisa Matthews, Harviestoun Brewery's youngest female brewer, launched from their Alva base in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. This 4.6% session IPA takes its name and distinctive character from Centennial hops, brewed with locally-sourced malt and soft water from the region. The beer pours blonde with a white head. The nose reveals pleasant hoppy and floral notes, with Centennial delivering clean citrus and aromatic florals. Supporting hops—Waimea, Magnum and Eureka!—add depth and bitterness without overwhelming the balance. On the palate, fruity aromas meet crisp citrus tang against a malty backbone of lager malt, wheat and pinhead oats for body. The finish is clean and dry, with a lingering hoppy character and the characteristic lemon-like tingle that Centennial brings. A perfectly balanced session IPA that rewards the careful approach to hop selection.
