About
Harviestoun's Ola Dubh 14 emerges from a distinctive Scottish partnership with Highland Park distillery, established in 2007. The brewery receives used whisky casks from the Orkney producer and matures its Old Engine Oil Porter within them. 'Ola Dubh' means 'Black Oil' in Gaelic—an apt description for this dark, layered ale. It pours deep black with a thick, creamy head. The nose reveals dark chocolate, roasted malt, and subtle notes of vanilla and oak. On the palate, the beer is smooth and approachable, with sweet malts, dry cocoa, and undertones of dried fruit. The finish is clean and dry, without harsh bitterness. At 8% ABV, the alcohol integrates seamlessly into the body. This is a beer for those who appreciate roasted depth without heavy alcohol warmth.
