Schlossbrauerei Stein is one of Bavaria's oldest castle breweries, located in Stein an der Traun in the Chiemgau region of southern Germany. The brewery's origins date back to 1489, making it a brewing institution with over 530 years of documented history. Its headquarters are housed within the Steiner Felsenburg, a remarkable cliff castle whose noble roots stretch back even further than the brewery itself. This unique setting gives Schlossbrauerei Stein a character unlike almost any other brewery in Germany. The brewery produces a broad portfolio of traditional Bavarian beer styles under the Steiner Bier brand. The range includes a Chiemgau Helles, Export, Stoaner Pils Zwerg, Chiemgau Urdunkel, Zwickelbier, Weissbier, Weissbier Dunkel, and even a non-alcoholic Zwickel Bier. Seasonal offerings such as the Steiner Advents Bier, a rich amber-hued festive lager, round out the lineup and reflect the brewery's dedication to brewing in tune with the seasons. Rooted in the Chiemgau countryside, Schlossbrauerei Stein combines centuries of Bavarian brewing tradition with a genuinely spectacular location inside a cave fortress. The Steiner Bier Export is among the brewery's most widely distributed beers, available in bottles and on draft across the region. For beer lovers visiting Bavaria, the Felsenburg brewery offers a truly rare combination of history, architecture, and authentic local beer culture.
