Oedipus Brewing is an Amsterdam-based craft brewery founded in 2012. Originally an independent operation, the brewery quickly built a reputation in the Dutch craft beer scene for its adventurous approach to brewing. Heineken initially acquired a minority stake in Oedipus in 2019, and subsequently fully acquired the brewery, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of the macro brewing giant. Oedipus is known for a bold and eclectic beer portfolio that leans into experimental styles. Their lineup includes sour beers, Berliner Weisse and other creative brews that reflect a playful and boundary-pushing brewing philosophy. The brewery prides itself on crafting beers with distinctive character, drawing on a wide range of fermentation techniques and ingredients. Their taproom, known as Oedipus Craft Space, is located in Amsterdam and offers 12 beers on tap brewed on the premises, providing visitors with a hands-on experience of their full range. Despite its acquisition by Heineken, Oedipus continues to operate with a craft identity rooted in Amsterdam. The taproom has become a popular destination in the city, praised for its relaxed atmosphere and rotating selection of fresh, on-site brewed beers. The brewery remains one of the more recognisable craft beer names in the Netherlands, with its flagship Mannenliefde among its well-known beers.
