Vault City's Ultimate Fruity Boundary-Pusher
Vault City has redefined the limits of fruit beer with the introduction of 999 GL, an intense sour that sits precisely at the boundary between beer and cider. At 999 grams of fruit per litre – the legal maximum – this release embodies Vault City's commitment to authentic, real-fruit flavours and innovative brewing technique.
Brewing Approach and Composition
The 999 GL is an 11% ABV sour entirely focused on fruit intensity. The brewery uses over 200,000 kilograms of Scottish fruit annually, including strawberries, raspberries, and tropical varieties. This release exemplifies Vault City's strategy to intensify flavour profiles by significantly increasing fruit content, particularly in their 'smoothie-like' styles.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, banana, apricot, and tropical fruit emerge. The palate is dominated by honey, banana, and apricot, while the finish balances citric lemon notes with soft bitterness and a sweet conclusion.
For Whom?
This is a release for fruit beer enthusiasts seeking maximum flavour intensity and authentic fruit character. Vault City releases at least three new flavours every two weeks and exports to 26 countries worldwide.
