De Kustbrouwerij is a craft brewery located in the heart of Middelkerke, a coastal town in Belgium, just 400 metres from the North Sea. The brewery established itself as a genuine gem for beer lovers on the Belgian coast, rooted in the local character and maritime atmosphere of its surroundings. Its name — which translates as 'The Coast Brewery' — reflects its close connection to the sea and the West Flemish coastal region. The brewery built a diverse portfolio of craft beers, including styles such as IPA, quadrupel, and barrel-aged sour beers, the latter described as a tribute to shared history. This range of styles shows an ambition to explore both accessible and more complex fermentation-driven beers. De Kustbrouwerij also produced the local beer Dunekeun, which became a recognisable regional product tied to the Middelkerke area. In more recent years, the brewery's founder Bart Verdonck decided to shift his focus away from beer production towards winemaking, leading to the end of brewing activities at De Kustbrouwerij. The Dunekeun brand subsequently found a new home at Heroes Amazing Beer. The brewery leaves behind a legacy as a distinctive coastal craft beer producer in the West Flemish region.
