Brouwerij De Die is an artisan brewery based in Alkmaar, in the Dutch province of North Holland, founded in July 2015. From the very beginning, the brewery has positioned itself as a craft producer deeply rooted in the local identity and rich history of Alkmaar, one of the Netherlands' most historically significant cities. The brewery focuses on specialty beers (speciaalbieren) that blend classical beer styles with references to Alkmaar's heritage. Their portfolio reflects a strong sense of place, ranging from blonde ales to red ales such as 't Zwaart van Cabeliau, a rusty orange-coloured red ale that showcases the brewery's appreciation for traditional styles with a regional twist. One of Brouwerij De Die's most notable beers is the 8 October Ontzetbier, brewed exclusively to commemorate the Alkmaars Ontzet — the annual celebration held on 8 October marking the historic relief of Alkmaar during the Eighty Years' War. The brewery's very first beer, Dirk Duyvel Blond, also reflects this commitment to local storytelling through beer.
