Brakspear Brewery traces its origins to 1711, when W.H. Brakspear acquired a brewery on Bell Street in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. In 1812, the operation relocated to a prominent Thames-side site, where it would remain a cornerstone of the local brewing scene for nearly three centuries. Trading as W.H. Brakspear & Sons Ltd., the brewery became one of England's most storied regional breweries, deeply tied to the town of Henley and the broader Thames Valley. In 2002, however, brewing at the historic Henley site came to an end when the brewery was closed and taken over. Following the closure, the beloved Brakspear beers were initially produced by the Thomas Hardy Brewery in North-west England before eventually finding a new home at Wychwood Brewery, now known as the Brakspear Brewing Company. The portfolio includes traditional English ale styles, with offerings such as Brakspear Oxford Gold — a zesty, citrusy pale ale brewed with pale ale malts that delivers a gold-gilt appearance and firm, fruity flavour — as well as the Brakspear Triple, praised for its remarkable depth of taste. Despite no longer brewing from its original Henley-on-Thames location, the Brakspear name carries considerable heritage and remains a recognised brand in the British real ale tradition. The beers continue to be available across the United Kingdom, keeping alive a brewing legacy that stretches back over three centuries.
