Belhaven Brewery is Scotland's oldest working brewery, established in 1719 in the coastal town of Dunbar, East Lothian. Nestled amongst the rolling barley fields of East Lothian, the brewery has been producing beer for over 300 years, with brewing traditions on the site dating back as far as the 12th century. A landmark moment in the brewery's modern history came in 1815, when it was acquired by Ellis Dudgeon, and in 2005 Belhaven joined Greene King, one of Britain's leading pub companies, further expanding its reach and portfolio. Belhaven is known for crafting traditionally brewed Scottish ales, drawing on the rich barley-growing heritage of East Lothian. The brewery's range reflects a deep respect for classic British and Scottish brewing styles, with a focus on quality malt character and time-honoured brewing techniques. Its beers are distributed internationally, including across the United States and Europe, bringing authentic Scottish brewing culture to a global audience. With a history spanning more than three centuries, Belhaven holds a unique place in British brewing heritage. The brewery in Dunbar continues to welcome visitors, offering an insight into one of the oldest and most storied brewing traditions in the United Kingdom. Its enduring reputation is built on consistency, craftsmanship, and a genuine connection to its East Lothian home.
