Austmann Bryggeri is a Norwegian craft brewery founded in 2013 by Thomas Sjue, Vinko Lien Sindelar, and a third co-founder. The brewery is located at Sluppen in Trondheim, in the Trøndelag region of Norway. It began brewing in early July 2013, establishing itself as one of the pioneering craft breweries in the Norwegian beer scene at a time when the country's craft movement was still finding its footing. Over the years, Austmann has grown into one of Norway's most recognised craft beer producers, ranking as the country's sixth-largest craft brewery. Their portfolio spans a wide range of styles, from hop-forward IPAs to darker, more complex ales such as their Mørk Skog Old Ale. The brewery also operates a taproom, giving beer enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy their beers directly at the source in Trondheim. In 2016, Hansa Borg Bryggerier acquired a 50% stake in Austmann, though those shares were sold back to Austmann in 2020, returning the brewery to independent ownership. Despite reaching capacity at their current facility, Austmann has continued to build a loyal following both domestically and among international craft beer enthusiasts. Their beers have been noted in competitions including the European Beer Challenge.
