Het Kapittel Watou Prior is a strong brown ale at 9% ABV, brewed by Brouwerij Van Eecke in Watou, West Flanders. This high-fermentation beer undergoes bottle conditioning, combining four malt varieties with two hop types. Van Eecke sources at least 50% of its hops locally from the Poperinge region, one of Europe's premier hop-growing areas. The Prior delivers a full, sweet character with roasted malt aromas, dark fruit, and Belgian candi notes. Look for caramel, raisin, and fig tones with hints of toffee. The beer offers a full, slightly syrupy mouthfeel balanced by a restrained bitterness that does not overpower.
