Code Oranje from d'Ooijevaer is an ambitious Strong Dark Ale matured in retired Caroni rum casks from Trinidad. Caroni, the legendary distillery that ceased production roughly two decades ago, has imparted its character deeply into this beer. The result is a dark, complex brew at 10% ABV that marries roasted depth with rum-barrel sweetness. Roasted malt and caramel dominate the palate, joined by subtle coffee notes and the warm, vanilla-tinged character of spent rum wood.
