Ter Dolen Donker is Limburg's first abbey beer, created in 1994 at Kasteelbrouwerij Ter Dolen. This dark abbey ale is top-fermented using three malt varieties and two noble hop types, then bottle-conditioned for added complexity. The beer reveals a full, fruity character with prominent caramel notes. Roasted malt tones blend with red fruit and sweet caramel undertones, while a subtle hop bitterness provides structure and texture. A gentle tingle on the palate enhances the drinking experience. At 7.1% ABV with a full body, this is a well-balanced abbey beer that honours both tradition and brewing craft.
