Störtebeker Atlantik-Ale is an American pale ale from Stralsund, brewed by Störtebeker Braumanufaktur in north-eastern Germany. This top-fermented beer draws on Hanseatic tradition: the antibacterial properties of hops made North German beers suitable for extended storage and trade. The beer pours straw-yellow with a clean, dry character. The aroma shows bright citrus peel, tropical fruit, and grassy pine notes with light biscuit malt undertones. On the palate, the malt is refined despite modest alcohol: light bread and biscuit notes support a full flavour with citrus and exotic fruit. The finish is bitter and lingers. At 5.1% ABV and naturally top-fermented, this is an approachable beer that never feels heavy. Best served at 6–8°C.
