À propos

Benno is an Austrian Trappist Dubbel from Stift Engelszell, named after Abbot Benno Stumpf, who led the monastery from 1953 to 1966. This amber to orange-hued beer strikes a balance between malty warmth and fruity fermentation. The aroma presents dark fruit, brown sugar, and subtle notes of nuts and hop herbs. On the palate, caramel, raisin, and fine spice emerge, finishing dry with lingering complexity. As one of the few Trappist breweries outside Belgium, Stift Engelszell has maintained the monastic brewing tradition since 1293. Benno is lighter in body than many Belgian Dubbels, making it an accessible alternative without sacrificing character.
