Guinness West Indies Porter is a revival of an original 1801 recipe, created by Arthur Guinness II for export to the Caribbean islands. The elevated alcohol content and extra hops served as natural preservatives during the long sea voyage. This porter marries roasted malt with subtle toffee and coffee character. The aroma offers caramel malt and chocolate, while the palate is both complex and mellow—noticeably less bitter than draught Guinness.
