Hövels Original is an Altbier from Dortmund with roots stretching back over 130 years. Brewed to a recipe established in 1893 using four malts and traditional German hops, this amber ale represents the house brewery's core expression. Long conditioning mellows the malt profile while preserving subtle fruit character. The palate reveals bready, grainy malt with notes of caramel and brown sugar, joined by gentle roasted and nutty undertones. Herbal and floral hop bitterness adds structure without dominating. A moderately dry finish keeps the beer balanced and approachable, allowing the layered malt bill to shine without heaviness.
