Downtown Bourbon Brown from Griffin Claw is an imperial brown ale at 9% ABV aged for six months in bourbon barrels with espresso beans. Brewed with dark chocolate malt, English brown malt and Amarillo hops for floral aromas. The nose reveals chocolate and coffee, underpinned by bourbon and wood character from the barrel aging. On the palate, toasted malt, toffee and caramel take the lead, joined by subtle coffee notes and bread dough texture. The dry finish is well-balanced, without aggressive bitterness.
