Egidius Donker is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale from Egidius Bieren, brewed as a tribute to Egidius Caudron, patriarch of the Caudron-Spanoghe family and former mayor of Moorsel near Aalst. At 9% ABV, this dark ale delivers a full and layered drinking experience. The aroma reveals roasted malt, dark chocolate and roasted coffee, with notes of candied banana and dark fruit. On the palate, medium malt sweetness and chocolate dominate, complemented by light roasted character. The finish turns dry with a gentle warming alcohol presence. A fitting choice for winter evenings or as a contemplative closer after dinner.
