Lucky Buddha is a light lager brewed in Hangzhou, China by Cheerday Brewery (Hangzhou Qiandaohu Beer Co.) at Qiandaohu Lake, the Lake of a Thousand Islands. Introduced in 2010, it fuses malt, hops, rice and water from this pristine region into an Asian-style lager. The beer opens with light hop aromas and subtle notes of honey and malt. On the palate, sweet malt takes the lead, followed by rice wine-like flavours and a crisp, dry finish with gentle bitterness. The aftertaste is clean and easy-drinking. At 4.7% ABV, this is an approachable lager well-suited to Asian cuisine and dim sum.
