Pater Lieven Bruin emerges from Brouwerij Van den Bossche, a Belgian family brewery in Sint-Lievens-Esse founded in 1897. Created in 1957 to mark the Sint-Livinus celebrations, this dark brown ale presents a stable beige head. The nose reveals notes of nuts, oatmeal and raisins interwoven with cocoa. Intense flavours of bitter chocolate and liquorice dominate the palate, supported by caramel and brown sugar. The finish is dry and bitter. At 6.5% ABV, this is a substantial brown ale suited to winter drinking.
