LagerLab No. 5 is an experimental Scotch Lager from Brouwerij Noordt in Rotterdam, part of their Pre-Prohibition Series. This 8% ABV beer merges Scottish ale traditions with lager fermentation, using lager yeast and flaked corn to deliver a creamy mouthfeel and crisp finish. The palate presents dark chocolate and roasted grain character, underpinned by Cluster hops that deliver assertive bitterness. The interplay between rich malt depth and hop-forward bite gives this lager unexpected complexity, reminiscent of a Black IPA despite its lager foundation. A bold experiment that reimagines historic American brewing styles through contemporary lager craftsmanship.
