Vrijstaat Vanmol Brewing
Belgium · Founded in 2016
Vrijstaat Vanmol Brewing is a Belgian craft brewery based in Lennik, in the Flemish Brabant province. Founded in 2016 by Erwin Vanmol, the brewery got off to a remarkable start thanks to a highly successful crowdfunding campaign that enabled him to raise enough capital to brew his first 2,500 liters of beer. The 139 people who backed the campaign earned themselves a special title: 'Burger van de Vrijstaat' (Citizen of the Free State), a nod to the independent, free-spirited identity that defines the brand. Vrijstaat Vanmol Brewing focuses on Belgian specialty beers, with a portfolio that includes Belgian Tripels, Belgian Saisons, and low-alcohol options. Signature beers such as the Gronckel Tripel (9% ABV), the Vuurvos and Woudwolf (both Belgian Saisons at 8% ABV), and the light Wanderlust (0.3% ABV) showcase the brewery's range — from full-bodied, complex ales to refreshing, hop-forward farmhouse styles. Some beers, such as the Janimal, have been contract-brewed at external facilities like Brouwerij Eutropius in Menen. The brewery has built a solid reputation on the Belgian craft beer scene. Its address is located at Nellekenstraat 42A in Lennik, and its beers have received recognition at international competitions, including a Grand Gold at the Frankfurt International Trophy in 2024.
