Trappistenbrouwerij De Kievit

Trappistenbrouwerij De Kievit is a Trappist brewery located in Klein Zundert, in the Noord-Brabant province of the Netherlands. It is part of the Abdij Maria Toevlucht (Abbey of Mary of Refuge) and stands as the second Trappist monastery brewery in the Netherlands. The brewery began selling its beers in 2013, making it one of the youngest Trappist breweries in the world. Like all authentic Trappist producers, it operates under the strict guidelines of the International Trappist Association, ensuring that the beer is brewed within the monastery walls under the supervision of the monks. The brewery produces top-fermented ales under the Zundert label, named after the town in which the abbey is situated. Its core range includes the Zundert 8, a Belgian-style Tripel with an ABV of 8%, and the Zundert 10, a rich Quadrupel with an ABV of 10%. Both biers are bottle-conditioned and known for their complexity and depth. In 2023, to mark the brewery's tenth anniversary, a new addition was introduced: the Zundert 4 Refterbier, a blonde and more accessible beer designed for a broader audience. The Zundert 10 Quadrupel has received notable recognition among beer enthusiasts, earning strong ratings on platforms such as Untappd and featuring in top beer lists. The brewery releases a special vintage bottle of the Zundert 10 during the festive season each year, making it a sought-after collector's item for beer lovers.
