Brewery

Brasserie Lefebvre

Brasserie Lefebvre is a family-owned Belgian brewery located in Quenast, a small town approximately 25 kilometres south-west of Brussels in the province of Walloon Brabant. Founded in 1876, the brewery has been passed down through six generations of the Lefebvre family, making it one of Belgium's enduring brewing dynasties. The strategic location in Quenast was originally chosen to supply the numerous cafés surrounding the local quarries, and the brewery has remained rooted in its home community ever since. Today, siblings Céline and her brother represent the sixth generation of owners and managers. Brasserie Lefebvre produces a diverse portfolio of Belgian beer styles that reflects both tradition and innovation. The brewery is perhaps best known for its signature swing-top bottle, which is shared across several of its flagship beers including Hopus, Barbãr, and Floreffe. Hopus is a hop-forward beer that has gained recognition at international events, while the Floreffe range draws inspiration from monastic brewing traditions. The witbier Blanche de Bruxelles, also known as 'Witteke', rounds out the portfolio as a cloudy, unfiltered and aromatic wheat beer true to its Belgian roots. With approximately 75% of its production destined for export, Brasserie Lefebvre has built a strong international reputation despite remaining a relatively small operation. The brewery's beers span multiple classic Belgian styles, from witbier to abbey ales, and its saison offerings have also been noted in respected beer publications such as the Oxford Companion to Beer.
