Vlaardingse Bierbrouwerij
Netherlands · Founded in 2012
Vlaardingse Bierbrouwerij is a craft brewery based in Vlaardingen, in the Netherlands. The brewery has its roots in a shared passion among four friends who, in 2011, came up with the plan to restore the old brewing tradition of their hometown. By 2012, a real brewing installation was in place, and in 2013 the first beer — Vulcaan Amber — was brought to market. The brewery is located at the historic Buitenhaven area, on the Oosthavenkade, in a rugged waterfront building where barrels of salt were once stored and that now houses brewing kettles instead. The brewery's portfolio operates under the Vulcaan brand name and includes a range of beer styles. Among the beers listed are a Wit Beer (Vulcaan Wit), a Blonde (Spijkcity Blondje), and historically inspired brews such as the Vulcaan 1018, a Gruit or ancient herbed ale at 4.7% ABV. A Belgian Pale Ale variant of Vulcaan was also produced, though it is no longer in production. The brewery draws on local identity and Vlaardingen's heritage as a source of inspiration for its recipes and branding. With its location in a characterful historic harbour building, Vlaardingse Bierbrouwerij combines craft brewing with a strong sense of place. The brewery is part of a wider craft beer scene in the South Holland region and is listed alongside other notable Dutch breweries.
