Nevel Artisan Ales

Nevel Artisan Ales is a craft brewery from Nijmegen, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The name 'Nevel' — meaning mist or haze in Dutch — was deliberately chosen to reflect the brewers' close connection to nature, both in their philosophy and in their approach to brewing. The brewery established itself as part of the broader Dutch craft beer revolution, alongside names such as Tommie Sjef and Oersoep, and became known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing in the Netherlands. Nevel built its reputation around artisan and wild-fermentation brewing, using spontaneous and mixed fermentation techniques that place the brewery firmly in the farmhouse and wild ale tradition. Their portfolio embraces natural processes, with beers shaped by wild yeast and unconventional ingredients that reflect the seasons and the surrounding landscape. This commitment to nature-driven brewing gave Nevel a distinct identity within the Dutch craft beer scene. Among their notable beers are Gloed and Einder, both dark beers brewed with wild yeast, which have been highlighted for their complex, refreshing character and their suitability for food pairing. With a catalogue of around eight beers, Nevel carved out a dedicated following among enthusiasts of spontaneous and mixed-fermentation ales. The brewery has since ceased operations, but its legacy endures as a pioneering force in artisan brewing in the Netherlands.
