Lindemans Brewery was founded in 1822 by Francisca Josina Vandersmissen and Joos Frans Lindemans in Vlezenbeek, a small village in the Pajottenland region southwest of Brussels, near the Senne valley. What began as a modest farm brewery has grown into one of Belgium's most iconic lambic producers, with six generations of the Lindemans family continuing the tradition of brewing one of the world's oldest beer styles. In 2022, the brewery celebrated its 200th anniversary, marking two centuries of authentic Belgian lambic brewing. Lindemans specialises exclusively in lambic, a beer style defined by spontaneous fermentation using wild yeasts and bacteria native to the Senne valley air. This ancient process forms the foundation for their diverse portfolio, which includes fruit beers such as kriek, framboise, and peach lambic, as well as traditional blended styles. Lambic serves as the base ingredient throughout the range, giving every beer its characteristic tartness and complexity. Among the brewery's most celebrated beers is the Oude Gueuze Cuvée René, a blend of young and old lambic refermented in the bottle. Lindemans has also expanded its production capacity and opened a second brewery site, allowing them to explore new beers and products based on mixed fermentation. The brewery welcomes visitors for guided tours, where passionate guides bring the history and craft of lambic brewing to life.
