Hook Norton Brewery

Hook Norton Brewery is a proudly independent, fifth-generation family brewery founded in 1849 and nestled in the heart of the Cotswold Hills in Oxfordshire, England. The current Victorian tower brewery came into operation in 1900, powered by a 25-horsepower steam engine that dates back to 1890 and remains a working piece of the brewery's living heritage. Few breweries in England can match this combination of age, continuity, and hands-on craftsmanship, making Hook Norton one of only 32 independent family-run breweries in the country. The brewery's portfolio is rooted in traditional British beer styles, with a focus on handcrafted ales that reflect the brewery's long heritage. Signature beers include a Double Stout, first brewed in its modern form for the contemporary market, alongside a range of ales that showcase classic English hop and malt character. The brewery combines its time-honoured approach with a modern sensibility, ensuring its beers remain relevant to today's drinkers while staying true to over 175 years of brewing tradition. Visitors to Hook Norton are welcomed for brewery tours that wind through the historic Victorian building, past the original steam engine and traditional brewing equipment. The experience offers a rare glimpse into living brewing history and has earned the brewery a strong reputation among beer enthusiasts both in the UK and internationally.
