Egidius Bieren
Belgium · Founded in 2016
Egidius Bieren is a Belgian craft brewery officially established in June 2016, with roots in a passionate beer club based in Denderbelle, in the East Flanders region of Belgium. The brewery's origins trace back to a hobbyist community that found its footing after participating in a Brouwland hobby brewing contest, transforming their shared enthusiasm for quality brewing into a fully-fledged brewery. The name Egidius is a nod to the family heritage of the Caudron-Spanoghe family, honouring a forefather and former mayor of Moorsel. Egidius Bieren brews in batches of 200 litres, maintaining a small-scale, artisanal approach to their craft. Their portfolio centres around Belgian beer styles, with a focus on full-flavoured, characterful ales. The brewery is perhaps best known for two signature beers: the Egidius Tripel, a classic Belgian Tripel weighing in at 8.5% ABV with a measured bitterness, and the Egidius Donker, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale brewed as a tribute to the family patriarch. Both beers reflect a deep respect for Belgian brewing tradition and the personal stories behind the brand.
