De Koninck Brewery, officially known as Stadsbrouwerij De Koninck, is a historic brewery rooted in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium. Its origins date back to 1833, when Johannes Vervliet founded the brewery, making it one of the oldest active breweries in Belgium and a true institution in the city of Antwerp. Over the decades, the brewery has become inseparably linked to Antwerp's identity, surviving industrialisation, ownership changes — including its acquisition by Duvel Moortgat — and evolving beer culture, while remaining a proud symbol of the city. De Koninck brews according to classic Belgian top-fermentation methods, using a distinctive house yeast that delivers characteristic esters and fruity notes. The brewery's portfolio includes a focused selection of beers, with Bolleke — the signature amber ale — at its core, alongside Tripel d'Anvers and Wild Jo. The Bolleke received its current name during the Bollekesfeest in 2019, a milestone that celebrated the beer's deep cultural roots in Antwerp's café tradition. Visitors to the brewery can experience De Koninck first-hand through its taproom, which features De Koninck beers alongside fellow Duvel Moortgat brands such as Liefmans, Boulevard, Firestone Walker and Ommegang. As the city's only remaining urban brewery, De Koninck's past and future remain closely intertwined with Antwerp itself.
