Duvel Barrel Aged Batch No. 4 is a tasting beer from Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat, matured for nine months in American bourbon barrels. This complex strong golden ale builds on the classic Duvel foundation of pale malts with Saaz and Styrian Goldings hops, but at 11.5% alcohol delivers a more intense expression. The bourbon barrel maturation brings distinct notes of toffee, caramel and vanilla to the fore, complemented by subtle roast character. The beer displays a clear golden hue with a substantial, persistent foam head. The flavour balances the fruity esters characteristic of Duvel with the warm, woody influence of bourbon-aged oak.
