About
Rijper Liefde from Brouwerij Leeghwater is an American Red Ale named after the historic hemp mill 'De Liefde' in the North Holland village of De Rijp. This is a notably low-alcohol red ale at just 3.5% ABV, yet it delivers considerable flavour. Aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and citrus greet the nose. On the palate, a lightly carbonated and tingling mouthfeel carries strong red fruit notes—particularly blackcurrant—alongside mild hop bitterness. The finish is reasonably dry. Brewery Leeghwater has been brewing since 2012 under head brewer Hans Konijn, crafting local beers with generous hop character inspired by the North Holland landscape. This is craft beer with a distinctive personality.
