Gouden Carolus Indulgence Botanik is a limited edition blonde ale from Brouwerij Het Anker in Mechelen, released in summer 2017. This unfiltered strong blonde combines barley and wheat with four natural botanicals: elderflower, angelica root, clove and rosemary. The result is a characterful, spiced ale where the herbal ingredients shine through clearly. The beer pours golden with a white head. The aroma is herbaceous and citrus-forward, with notes of ginger and rosemary. The palate is sweet and fruity with pronounced spice, where elderflower is present but balanced. Strong carbonation carries the flavours through to a crisp, dry finish with lingering herbal notes.
