Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Imperial Dark is Brouwerij Het Anker's annual flagship, brewed each February 24th to honour Emperor Charles V. This potent quadrupel at 11% ABV presents a deep brown colour and genuine ageing potential. Roasted malts, caramel and dark fruit notes form the foundation, layered with subtle spice and herb complexity. The palate is rich and assertive, revealing chocolate, coffee and plum alongside apple and cinnamon undertones. Balanced bitterness cuts through the full body, while the finish remains surprisingly clean and refreshing despite the warming alcohol presence.
