La Trappe Quadrupel Speciale is a limited edition from the Trappist brewery Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot, Netherlands. This special release marks 35 years of the world's first quadrupel, brewed with six malt varieties including dark malts, wheat malt, and oat malt. The result is richer and more pronounced than the classic version. At 10.5% ABV, this dark amber ale delivers a full, warming character. The malty foundation reveals notes of caramel and date, complemented by subtle roasted tones. The finish is smooth with gentle bitterness that provides balance. Best enjoyed at 12–15°C to fully appreciate the layered complexity this special edition offers.
